Freestyle Libre2 Sensor

The FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor is a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system that allows you to track your blood sugar levels without painful finger pricks. The sensor is inserted under the skin and can be worn for up to 14 days. It continuously measures your glucose levels and stores the data in the sensor. You can then scan the sensor with your smartphone or FreeStyle Libre reader to see your glucose levels in real time.

The FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor is a great way to improve your diabetes management. It can help you to:

  • Track your glucose levels more frequently and accurately
  • Identify trends in your glucose levels
  • Make informed decisions about your insulin therapy
  • Reduce the risk of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia

Key benefits:

  • Continuous glucose monitoring without painful finger pricks
  • Accurate glucose readings
  • Easy to use
  • Long wear time (up to 14 days)
  • Compatible with smartphone and FreeStyle Libre reader

  1. Apply the Sensor: The FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor is applied on to the back of the upper arm with a simple, disposable device called an applicator. When the sensor is applied, a thin, flexible and sterile fibre is inserted just under the skin. In a study conducted by Abbott Diabetes Care, 92% of patients surveyed (n=119) agree/strongly agree that applying the sensor is less painful than a finger prick
  2. Scan Sensor: To obtain a glucose reading, simply perform a quick, painless 1-second scan of the FreeStyle LibreLink app over the sensor. This scan gives you more information than monitoring with blood glucose test strips, without the need for routine finger pricks. The FreeStyle Libre 2 system also offers LibreView to generate concise reports to assist with the analysis of glucose data.
  3. Get Reading: Each scan of the sensor gives a current glucose reading, the last 8-hours of glucose history, and a trend arrow showing if glucose is going up, down, or changing slowly. Optional alarms will also let you know when your glucose readings are too high or too low.
